In our opinion flooring is a completely personal choice in that everyone has their preference, for us it's a high quality vinyl plank. We have had vinyl plank in our last 2 houses and absolutely loved it, so it was a no-brainer for this home as well!
We had our cabinets booked to come in first thing on a Monday so unfortunately it was a full weekend for "us". I use the term us very loosely as Daniel was the one who did all of the floor laying while I carried all of the boxes of vinyl plank from one side of the house to the other haha.
When laying vinyl plank there are a couple of different products and ways to install it. We always choose a glue down product. It is more time consuming but we think the end result is well worth it.
We love many things about vinyl plank, a few notable ones being that it's waterproof, has cushioning to make it softer on the feet, has a wood look, AND if one piece gets damaged you can simply suction it up and replace it, SO easy!
The feel of our new home is earthy and organic so when looking for flooring I wanted one that had warmth along with wood grain to bring in that natural element. Vinyl plank does come in a few different dimensions, we chose the wide plank 9"x60" style because it felt more modern.
After drywall stage I think my favourite stage is flooring as it truly transforms the space from a construction site into a home. We absolutely love how the flooring tone compliments the paint colour (Simply White by Benjamin Moore) and our cabinet choices, we can't wait to show you all the other finishes.
